The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far. Microsoft expects to raise $25 billion in US bond sale, says report. Microsoft is planning to raise about $25 billion through its first US investment-grade bond sale in more than nine years, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday. The bond sale would make Microsoft the latest tech giant to tap into debt markets to fuel its AI ambitions and had gathered more than $100 billion of orders, or over four times the size of the offering, one of the people said, requesting anonymity as the matter was confidential. Bloomberg News first reported the development. The world's largest tech firms have turned to selling bonds and raising equity over the past year to pay for their AI spending spree, a shift in approach for the Silicon Valley giants that have typically relied on their large coffers to fund investments. Microsoft is selling the debt in as many as 10 tranches, with maturities ranging from 2 to 40 years, Bloomberg reported, adding that no final decision had been made on the offering's size and that it may change according to demand. Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and UBS Group AG are managing the bond offering, according to the report. UBS, Wells Fargo and JPMorgan declined Reuters' requests for comment. Microsoft pointed Reuters to a regulatory filing that confirms the bond sale without disclosing the size of the sale. The report comes just a day after Microsoft CFO Amy Hood told investors on an earnings call that the company would pursue additional sources of funding "when we believe it is attractive to do so", citing the need to preserve its cash flows and financial flexibility. Microsoft shares fell 0.7% in afternoon trading. The company issued an upbeat current-quarter cloud sales outlook after hours on Wednesday. The company expects to keep generating positive free cash flow in its current fiscal year that runs through June 2027 — making it a standout among Big Tech and hyperscaler peers, which have all started burning through cash to fund their data-center buildout. Investors punished rival Alphabet on Wednesday as it burned $9.07 billion in the third quarter, after selling off Meta last week following the Facebook parent's first cash burn in more than a decade.

Tether and Circle have frozen about $3B of the stolen assets, according to Binance, which says user funds are safe.

Asian Stocks Fall as Alphabet's Slide Weighs on Tech. By Megan Cheah Asian stocks declined Friday, tracking losses on Wall Street, as a revenue shortfall from Google parent Alphabet drove investors to trim their technology holdings. The company, a major hyperscaler in the artificial-intelligence boom, lost half a trillion in market value on Thursday after Google's search revenue growth in the third quarter waned due to the less-lucrative nature of AI searches. "Enthusiasm for artificial intelligence can sustain high expectations, but results must demonstrate progress in profitability and cash generation," said Antonio Di Giacomo, senior market analyst at XS.com. "In this environment, the market can punish even substantial revenue growth when earnings disappoint, or investment requirements continue to rise." Alphabet's plunged weighed on U.S. technology stocks, and the selloff appears likely to continue, with stock futures tied to the tech-heavy Nasdaq declining 2.4% in Asia. These losses also spilled over into Asia. South Korea's Kospi slid 5.2%, with index heavyweight chip makers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix dropping 5.5% and 9.0%, respectively. The former extended Thursday's declines after posting third-quarter results, while the latter appears to be on track to snap a five-session winning streak. The Korea Exchange briefly suspended trading of Kospi stocks after futures tied to the index fell more than 5%. Shares of Japan's Softbank Group Corp., a prominent AI investor, slid 7.1%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 2.75%, Taiwan's Taiex shed 3.0% and China's Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.25%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was an outlier, rising 0.7%, while the city's tech gauge added 0.4%. Oil rose as traders weighed fresh efforts to revive peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran against persistent Middle East supply risks and the potential for a renewed escalation in the conflict. "The physical constraints keeping the oil market tight are unlikely to dissipate before year-end," said ANZ Research strategists. Buffers that absorbed the initial shock of disrupted supply from the conflict have been drawn down, tanker availability has tightened and alternative export routes have been stretched, they said. Exports from the Persian Gulf also appear to be weakening, while the effective surplus capacity of oil cartel OPEC was estimated to be zero under current logistical constraints, they added. ANZ Research raised its year-end Brent forecast to $105 a barrel from $95 a barrel, but said the revision doesn't assume another escalation in Middle East hostilities. Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude-oil futures rose 1.0% to $103.04 a barrel, while front-month Brent gained 1.0% to $116.00 a barrel. Gold declined, with the spot price last down 0.4% at $4,004.89 a troy ounce. Expectations of tighter monetary policy across major economies are supporting bond yields and pressuring the precious metal, said Infinox's Thadeu Dos Santos in a note. A higher interest-rate environment typically weighs on nonyielding assets such as gold. Write to Megan Cheah at megan.cheah@wsj.com

Nvidia in talks to give credit support for Nscale's deal with Anthropic, The Information reports. Nvidia NVDA is in talks to offer AI cloud provider Nscale billions of dollars in credit guarantees to support debt funding for a data center earmarked for Anthropic, The Information reported on Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the talks. The credit support would help fund power infrastructure and construction of Nscale's AI data centre in West Virginia, which Anthropic plans to use, according to the report. Nvidia is an investor in the UK-based cloud provider The deal has not been signed and terms could still change, the report said Nvidia, Nscale and Anthropic did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment Claude maker Anthropic struck a deal in August to spend $45 billion to rent computing power from Nscale's West Virginia data center campus Nscale is also in talks to sell about 460 megawatts of AI computing power to Anthropic in another deal that could also be worth about $45 billion The report comes as companies such as Coreweave CRWV and Firmus, which are both backed by Nvidia, have been hit by concerns about debt financing behind the AI build-out
Amazon burns cash, Intel flags weak PC demand as AI boom's costs ripple across markets. By Sinéad Carew and Aditya Soni Wall Street's worries about the cost of the AI boom escalated after the market close on Thursday, as results from Amazon AMZN and Intel INTC showed the infrastructure race is not only straining the tech industry but affecting consumers. Surging data-center spending, as highlighted in Amazon's massive cash burn, has turned once debt-light tech giants into major borrowers, while price hikes are squeezing global demand for devices like smartphones and PCs. Amazon forecast holiday-quarter sales below Wall Street expectations, a potential sign of growing pressure on consumers as inflation picks up, which also hit Intel's PC business, as a memory chip shortage has driven up its costs. The AI spending spree is also eating into Big Tech's once-enviable cash flows. Alphabet GOOG and Meta META both burned cash in the September quarter, while Microsoft MSFT , the only exception, joined their borrowing binge with a $25 billion debt sale on Thursday. The tech giants have deep pockets to sustain their spending, but investors have grown increasingly wary of smaller AI cloud firms borrowing heavily to deliver on enormous order backlogs. Amazon's 7% after-hours slide was accompanied by losses of 5.8% to 6.7% in AI cloud stocks CoreWeave CRWV , Nebius NBIS and Iren IREN . Alphabet, which closed regular trading down nearly 13%, fell another 1.5% after-hours. The semiconductor index SOX also sold off post-close after Intel blamed "near term headwinds across the PC industry." The index had already dropped 1.4% during the regular session due to Alphabet's messy earnings report. Shares of PC makers HP HPQ and Dell DELL sank 8% and 6.8%. "The revenues missed due to lower PC demand and forward guidance also disappointed. As Google learned today, earnings matter," said Kim Caughey Forrest, founder and chief investment officer at Bokeh Capital Partners LLC. Google parent Alphabet dropped 13% on Thursday. INTEL FACTORY SHUTDOWN Intel, whose shares were down 18%, also said a factory explosion in Israel caused a two-week shutdown and would cost it roughly $600 million in lost revenue over two quarters. "Overall semiconductor weakness after hours is primarily a function of Intel guide and negative sentiment spillover," said Michael James, equity sales trader at Rosenblatt Securities. Some analysts said Intel's problems in the PC sector, an area of technology that does not garner the same scrutiny on Wall Street as the AI buildout, do not seem to necessarily mean big problems for other chipmakers that operate more prominently in AI. Nevertheless, investors in the less-active post-market trade chose to shoot first and ask questions later. AMD AMD dropped 4% and Broadcom AVGO fell 2%. Among the biggest losers in the volatile session was the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull ETF SOXL , which offers investors three times the daily performance of the SOX and was off 9%. The SOX has been one of 2026's standout performers, rising more than 60% as shortages of chips and equipment needed for the AI buildout drive up prices and profits at firms ranging from giant Nvidia NVDA and memory chip firm Micron MU to Marvell Technology MRVL . But the momentum of that trade has been tested over the past month by tightening financing terms. That has kept some expected IPOs on the sidelines and put some highly leveraged AI infrastructure firms under pressure. The SOX has declined 13% since hitting its recent high in October and is off 21% from its all-time high in June. "I think Intel was seen as this unicorn within the tech sector because it was seen as being weaker compared to Nvidia and AMD," said Jake Dollarhide, chief executive officer of Longbow Asset Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. "It just had this miraculous rise, and you got a lot of retail money into it, and some of that money is easy come, easy go."
